WHO ARE WE?

Sidewinders Lacrosse is a non-profit 501C(3) providing year round lacrosse for boys in grades 2-12 and girls grades 8-12 throughout the greater Annapolis area. While we are one of the largest lacrosse clubs in the region, you will find a very strong local feel and connection to our community rich in lacrosse legacy.  The Sidewinders Lacrosse community starts and stops with the players and families who support us.  We are driven by culture focused on building great habits, fueling a passion for the game  We do not believe in the monetization of youth sports which is why nearly 90% of costs goes directly back to our players.

OUR APPROACH

We are lucky enough to live in area full of former players who have played at the collegiate and professional levels. While they may have stepped away from playing, many of them have carried their passion, experience and knowledge to the sidelines as a coach.  We have been fortunate to align with many current and former college players who are coaching our teams today. We have more than 50 coaches, many that have been with us for years.  Our coaches bring years of experience and success to the table. More than 85% of our coaches played in college and the vast majority have more than 5-years’ experience coaching.   

DIFFERENT BY DESIGN.

What makes our coaching strategy different? Understanding that players sometimes need a different voice, we encourage coaching cross-over where our coaching staffs switch teams for a practice. It gives players a different perspective and extends our coaching resources to all our players.   We also encourage coaching peer reviews where one coaching staff will watch another team practice and provide helpful feedback and insight that can be used to enhance practice structure, terminology, and approach.  Lastly, we have established a coaching internship program that targets current college lacrosse players who have in interest in coaching. Following graduation, interns are brought in to support our current coaching staff for summer tournaments bringing a fresh new voice and perspective.
